DERMAPEN SKIN NEEDLING
Dermapen 4 Skin Needling also known as Microneedling is increasingly being accepted by people and is one of the most innovative rejuvenation therapies available today for treating various skin problems.
It is very natural that as we age the production of the fibroblast cells that stimulate the growth of the collagen and elastin diminishes, which will result in sagging of the skin, the appearance of wrinkles, and fine lines, and loose skin. It is very important to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin for healthier and younger-looking skin and this can be done with the Dermapen skin needling treatment.
Dermapen Skin Needling will create micro-injuries which will ultimately trigger the growth of fibroblast cells that will stimulate the production of collagen resulting in plumper and smoother-looking skin.

The Dermapen Skin Needling gives you rejuvenated and plumper skin with no pain, minimal discomfort, and very little downtime.
In this therapy, disposable needles are used which eliminates the risk of cross-contamination.
The depth of the needles is adjustable, and this allows for a treatment customized to the patient’s needs.
Being the most advanced treatment, it can easily treat the hard-to-reach areas like around the nose, eyes, and lips.
Needles are injected vertically so that they can easily penetrate scar tissue.
It is the most controlled and consistent treatment that yields optimal results.
It causes less pain and redness.
Minimal Trauma, Maximum Results
Dermapen technology has significant benefits over dermal-rolling and Fractional Laser treatments, due to the minimal trauma inflicted upon your skin. This allows your skin to spend more effort fighting the ailment itself, rather than collateral damage inflicted during the procedure itself.
Anti-Ageing
Dermapen treatments designed to create a safe healing response within the body to ignite natural collagen and elastin production from within the skin, without harsh side effects and downtime, along with repairing the surface layers to result in healthier skin; looking brighter, tighter, more even toned, refined pores and reduced wrinkles.
Your face, lip area, eye area, ears, neck, chest, hands, and scalp are all treated with pinpoint precision to promote rapid lifting, firming and toning of facial features and contours.
What’s more, the microchannels allow your skin to carry up to 80% more active ingredients which dive deep into your skin to feed and be absorbed by the underlying cells. You’ll see results in just one session.
Scarring
Dermapen 4 is the only microneedling device with a dedicated scar setting and protocols for revision of deep, atrophic scars; including surgical, burn contracture, striae and post-acne scars. Needle penetration can now be increased up to 3.0mm. AOVN technology, automatically calibrates the motor speed, pressure, and penetration for targeted precision. No dragging. No pulling of the skin. A popular Dermapen Scar Treatment is for the treatment of Stretch Marks, both old and new. Both practitioners and patients have found Dermapen treatments to be more effective for stretch marks than any laser treatments.
Pigmentation
Unlike some Laser treatments, Dermapen removes the risk of heat injury and hypopigmentation risks, whilst promoting optimised cell function. This makes it a suitable procedure for any patient affected by melasma and with a predisposition to hyperpigmentation. Treatment is also suitable on all Fitzpatrick Skin Types and ethnicities. Dermapen treatments have also been found to be effective on Hypopigmentation Vitiligo treatments. Clinically Dermapen treatments work in four ways to reverse the production of hyperpigmentation and melasma.
Enlarged Pores
Microneedling with Dermapen stimulates the skin to produce new collagen, plumping up and tightening the appearance of the enlarged pores.
Stretch Marks
Many practitioners and patients have claimed that Dermapen Treatments™ have been more effective in treating stretch marks than other methods.
Acne
Dermapen Treatments visibly improve the appearance of problematic skin breakouts and black or whiteheads (comedones) and active acne.
*Dermapen treatments can be effective for multitude of conditions including Rosacea, telangiectasia, seborrheic dermatitis, aesthetic gynaecology, alopecia, and much more.
Avoid Exfoliating Products
Avoid exfoliating products one week before your appointment so that your skin is calm, protected, and ready for treatment. Many exfoliating products strip the skin of the essential protective barrier that keeps it calm, protects it from harmful bacteria, and helps keep inflammation at bay.
Temporarily Discontinue the Use of Certain Topical Products
You may need to temporarily adjust your topical products in the week leading up to your treatment. Avoid the use of topical products that contain active ingredients, such as alpha-hydroxy acids, retinoids, chemical exfoliants, or topical antibiotics. These products increase the sensitivity of your skin, which produces the opposite effect necessary to prepare the skin for treatment.
Avoid Accutane
While Accutane may be effective, it creates the opposite skin environment necessary for a successful microneedling session. If you are interested in booking this treatment, you must temporarily discontinue the use of Accutane medication for at least six months before treatment to get the best results.
Stay Out of the Sun
Sunburned skin is red, angry, inflamed, and not suitable for a microneedling session. Avoid sun exposure 24 hours prior to your treatment, and make sure that your skin does not get sunburned in the week leading up to your appointment. If you are exposed to the sun, wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen suitable for the face to keep yourself protected from the elements. Doing so will be an investment in your future treatment results.
Schedule Your Treatment Around Anti-Wrinkle Appointments
If you undergo regular anti-wrinkle injections, you need to wait to schedule your Dermapen treatment until at least two weeks after your anti-wrinkle appointment. This will make sure that you get the best results from your injectable treatment, as well as your microneedling treatment.
No makeup on the day of your appointment.
We recommend coming to your appointment make-up free. Although we cleanse the skin prior to any needling treatment, it is still best to come makeup free to reduce the risk of infection.
Microneedling procedures aren't painful, but they can be uncomfortable, especially for patients who may be afraid of needles. Microneedling uses tiny needlepoints to create punctures within the dermis; doing so helps encourage the body's collagen and elastin production, leading to younger and smoother-looking skin. Topical numbing cream can be used; however it is discouraged as it can cause vasocontriction.
It is normal to expect pin point bleeding with Dermapen. Deep Dermal Microneedling treatments may cause the skin to bleed or bruise.

DermaPen is generally safe, but there are some side effects and risks. These include:
Breakouts
Risk of infection
Redness or discolouration
Irritation/Sensitivity
Itching
Bruising
Swelling
Flaking skin for up to 7-10 days
Scarring, if used improperly especially by a non-professional
Patients can expect their skin to look red immediately after a Dermapen Microneedling treatment. This is because of increased blood flow to the skin as part of the body's natural wound healing response to the ultrafine needles that have penetrated the skin's surface.
Healing usually takes a mere 24 hours. However, it may take up to two to three days depending on the extent of the treatment.
Your skin will feel dry for 5-7 days following the treatment so it’s important to use a hydrating moisturiser. See aftercare tips below.
Bruising can also occur after treatment, particularly around the eyes. This will take up to 7 days to heal.
You are free to return to work or school immediately after treatment and wear makeup 24 hours after your treatment.
Do not expose yourself to the sun
After you have undergone your micro-needling procedure, stay out of the sun and do not apply any sunscreen, due to the toxins that may be contained in the lotion. Post procedure, the skin channels are completely open, and any toxins contained in topical applicants may be harmful to you.
Do not use any “active ingredient” skin products
Post-procedure, avoid any skincare product that has active ingredients. These commonly include things like Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, and other similar agents. The skin will be highly sensitive and these products will only irritate it further.
Use collagen-stimulating peptides
As Microneedling serves to stimulate the production of collagen, the skin needs higher amounts of collagen than normal to recover optimally. Collagen Stimulating Peptides assist in that process, further aiding in the stimulation of collagen production.
Avoid the use of makeup after treatment
It is imperative that you let your skin “breathe” and recover for 24 hours after the procedure. The skin channels are open, and using a makeup brush can penetrate the pores, especially if they are very thin, causing further irritation. Using a makeup brush that has been used before can contaminate the skin and, consequently, lead to infections. Wait 24 to 48 hours before you apply face makeup to give your skin the necessary recovery time.
Use a cooling face mask
After you have undergone Microneedling, you may experience some skin inflammation or redness. If you are uncomfortable, using a cooling mask will help reduce the inflammation or redness of the skin, giving you more comfort.
Use an antioxidant serum
Antioxidant serums have properties that assist in healing the skin. Serums assist in soothing the skin and further reduce irritation.
Exfoliate
It’s important to exfoliate on day 5 (day 1 is the day of treatment) to remove any dead skin cells which have resulted from treatment. You can repeat exfoliation on day 7 if required. Be sure not to exfoliate more than twice a week as this can damage the superficial layer of your skin and lead to irritation.
Avoid sweating
As you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to either a reaction or infection.
Drink water
It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.
Thanks to the superior features of the Dermapen 4, you can see a noticeable glow in your skin a few days after your first session.
Permanent changes in your skin will be visible after 3–6 prescribed treatments by a Dermapen World Authorised Treatment Provider like Beauty Lab & Laser. With this in mind, you could expect significant visible results in the appearance, texture, and smoothness of your skin in as little as a couple of months.
Think of Dermapen Treatments as a jetpack for your skin’s natural rejuvenating function. It keeps working long after the needling’s over.
The positive benefits of Dermapen Treatments can continue to be seen for up to 24 months. It’s a long-lasting solution to your most troublesome skin concerns.
Microneedling produces “fractional” micro injuries to the epidermis and dermis. The healing, inflammation and collagenesis processes must take place for the benefits of microneedling to become evident. Treatments are typically spaced 6 to 8 weeks between treatments.
