The topical anaesthetic cream requires 20 to 30 minutes to take effect prior to treatment, and then the treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes, including aftercare. So, each session requires approximately 1 hour.

Especially with the correct application of a good topical anaesthetic, the treatment is highly tolerable.

Radiofrequency microneedling is considered safe, but it isn’t appropriate for everyone.

You may be an ideal candidate if you:

• are in good health

• have early signs of aging

• have realistic expectations

Contraindications for this treatment

• currently or recently used Accutane

• have an active cold sore breakout

• have a skin infection

• have a moderate to severe skin disease (like psoriasis)

• are receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy

• are pregnant

• are taking anticoagulants

• have a history of keloids, hypertrophic scarring, or poor wound healing

Typically, RadioFrequency Microneedling is well tolerated. But like all cosmetic treatments, it may cause some side effects.

Possible side effects include:

• dryness

• redness

• scaling

• itching

• swelling

• mild acne flare-up

• cold sore breakout

These side effects might last for a few hours or days.

Some complications need medical attention. If you experience any of the following, contact your doctor:

• allergic reaction to needles

• signs of infection

• persisting swelling or redness

• prolonged bleeding

• bruising

• fatigue

• headache

You may experience transient erythema on the treated areas for 3-4 hours initially. The downtime involved with RF Microneedling treatments are significantly reduced due to it targeting the deeper layers of the skin. Redness of the skin will subside after 24 hrs and in rare cases, will last up to 48 hours. You skin will feel dry for up to a week after treatment so it is important to keep the skin hydrated with a post treatment cream that can be recommended by your treating nurse.

Aftercare:

• Redness and mild heat sensation will last up to a few hours. There may be some swelling or a grid-like pattern or a graze.

• Makeup can be applied 24 hours after procedure.

• Redness and swelling will generally subside within a few of hours, although it can last longer.

• Use the recommended hydrating face masks the following day after treatment, every day for 5 days.

• Flaking or peeling of the skin is common and can last a few days to 1 week.

• Avoid using any active skin care (eg glycolic, vitamin A / retinol or Vitamin C) for at leave 1 week. Only use a gentle cleanser, hydrating moisturiser and sunscreen for the first week post treatment.

• Wear sunscreen and avoid the sun after the treatment. Beauty Lab & Laser sells SPF 50+ which is great to use after treatment.

• Exfoliate on day 5 and repeat on day 7 if required. Do not exfoliate more than twice per week.

The typical interval between sessions is once every 3-4 weeks. Most patients see excellent results following 2-4 treatments. This may vary according to your skin condition and your physician will be better able to assess and advise you of this.
