PDO threads
The PDO Mono Thread treatment is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure that activates collagen production which results in gradual skin thickening, tightening, and rejuvenation with minimal downtime.
Mono Threads are made from a material called Polydioxanone which is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable. PDO Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure.

PDO Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect. While Matrix Mono Threads tighten the skin, they do not significantly lift it. The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing natural collagen production to take place, over time the PDO will be fully absorbed by the body. You can see an improvement of fine lines and volumisation in the treatment areas. For most people, results last for 6 to 12 months depending on the number of threads used.
The time of the treatment will vary based on factors, such as the size of the area being treated, but will typically take anywhere between 30–60 minutes.
Topical anaesthetic will be applied before the Matrix Mono Thread treatment, so you experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. You may experience a firm feeling and some tenderness in the area that has been treated for a few days after the procedure.
A Matrix Mono Thread treatment may produce swelling and bruising in the area that has been treated. Swelling usually subsides after a few days and bruising will take 5-7 days on average to resolve.
Polydioxanone (PDO) is a biodegradable, synthetic, polymer formulated into a medical grade thread that is like dissolvable surgical sutures. PDO threads dissolve gradually over 6 months.
Some patients commonly experience bruising and swelling to the area treated. Less common side effects include visible structure of the thread under the skin or snapping of the threads. Rare side effects may include infection.
Avoid Alcohol and smoking. Schedule procedure at least one week prior to a special occasion or event. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medication (consult Doctor prior, if necessary). Avoid treatment if you have active infections in the treatment area.
Please do not apply oil-based moisturiser or makeup for the next 24 hours. When applying makeup over the next five days, do so gently in the treated area. Ice may be applied to soothe area of treatment. Mild bruising and swelling is to be expected and will resolve in a few days.
Please sleep on your back and elevate your head for the first three nights.
Please do not have any facials or face massages for three weeks. There may be mild tenderness in the treated area for approximately one week.
Avoid strenuous exercise or contact sports for three weeks.
Avoid exaggerated facial movements like chewing, talking, or yawning for three weeks.
No dental surgery for four weeks.
Avoid saunas or heat treatments for three weeks. Results can be expected in 8–12 weeks.
A consultation is required to assess the treatment area and establish how many threads are required. Please book a free consultation online to obtain an accurate quote for this treatment.
