PRP Skin Needling Facial
The PRP Skin Needling Facial is a treatment where the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is distributed into the skin the Dermapen micro-needling device.
During a traditional micro-needling treatment, needles create tiny insults in the skin, stimulating the skin to repair itself with new collagen and elastin. PRP Skin Needling Facial combine the powers of micro-needling together with PRP which contain growth factors to help stimulate repair.

A thorough consultation will take place to discuss the benefits and risks of this treatment. Once it has been established that this treatment is appropriate, patient consent is obtained. Topical numbing is applied to the treated area for 20-30 minutes. The second step is taking a sample of your blood and placing it into a centrifuge device where it will be spun for approximately 5 minutes. The centrifuge device separates the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is them drown out and placed into 1 ml syringes. A total of 7-9 mls of platelet rich plasma is generally collected.
The face is then cleaned and the Dermapen micro-needling commenced. The micro-needling device to create tiny holes, or microchannels, on the skin's surface. These microchannels serve as pathways for the extracted PRP, which your treating nurse applies topically. The whole process takes around 1 hour.
Three Weeks Before: Discontinue any steroid medications (with your doctor’s permission).
The Week Before: Do not take any ibuprofen, aspirin, or NSAIDs. Discontinue use of any anticoagulant medications. Discontinue herbs, supplements, or vitamins associated with blood thinning. Ask your doctor if you have concerns about any specific medications or supplements you take.
Avoid the use of topical products that contain active ingredients, such as alpha-hydroxy acids, retinoids, chemical exfoliants, or topical antibiotics. These products increase the sensitivity of your skin, which produces the opposite effect necessary to prepare the skin for treatment.
Avoid exfoliating products one week before your appointment so that your skin is calm, protected, and ready for treatment. Many exfoliating products strip the skin of the essential protective barrier that keeps it calm, protects it from harmful bacteria, and helps keep inflammation at bay.
24 hrs before your appointment: Sunburned skin is red, angry, inflamed, and not suitable for a PRP Skin Needling Facial. Avoid sun exposure 24 hours prior to your treatment, and make sure that your skin does not get sunburned in the week leading up to your appointment. If you are exposed to the sun, wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen suitable for the face to keep yourself protected from the elements. Doing so will be an investment in your future treatment results.
Drink plenty of water, eat well, and get a good night’s rest the night before.
The Day Of: Stay hydrated and eat a full, nutritious meal. No makeup on the day of your appointment.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
If you undergo regular Anti-Wrinkle injections, you need to wait to schedule your PRP Skin Needling Facial until at least two weeks after your anti-wrinkle appointment. This will make sure that you get the best results from your injectable treatment, as well as your PRP Skin Needling Facial.
While Accutane may be effective, it creates the opposite skin environment necessary for a successful PRP Skin Needling Facial. If you are interested in booking this treatment, you must temporarily discontinue the use of Accutane medication for at least six months before treatment to get the best results.
Yes, they’re bloody, but there are numerous benefits to getting PRP facials. Some of them include:
It makes your skin appear tighter and smoother When platelet-rich plasma is applied to the skin in a non-invasive procedure, it triggers cell turnover and boosts the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in a firmer, tighter, and more supple complexion.
It helps with scarring Microneedling with PRP produce new skin cells and promote healing, leading to a visible improvement in the appearance of acne scars.
It fades hyperpigmentation and evens skin tone In a comprehensive analysis of PRP therapy published in 2021, studies have demonstrated the ability of PRP to effectively decrease melanin production, thus reducing excess pigmentation and resulting in a more even skin tone.
The risks associated with a PRP treatment are minimal since it uses your own blood. However, it’s the application of the microneedles that carry the risks with this treatment which are:
Pain
Swelling
Bleeding
Redness
Irritation
Infection
Bruising
Ecchymosis

After a PRP facial, your skin may look red, slightly swollen, and potentially itch, though it shouldn't be painful. The redness can persist for anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. However, it may take up to two to three days depending on the extent of the treatment. Your skin will feel dry for 5-7 days following the treatment so it’s important to use a hydrating moisturiser. See aftercare tips below. Bruising can also occur after treatment, particularly around the eyes. This will take up to 7 days to heal.
You are free to return to work or school immediately after treatment and wear makeup 24 hours after your treatment. There is also a chance your skin may peel for a few days. To maximise the benefits of your treatment, we suggest avoiding makeup until the peeling has subsided.
Do not expose yourself to the sun After you have undergone your PRP Skin Needling Facial, stay out of the sun and do not apply any sunscreen, due to the toxins that may be contained in the lotion. Post procedure, the skin channels are completely open, and any toxins contained in topical applicants may be harmful to you.
Do not use any “active ingredient” skin products Post-procedure, avoid any skincare product that has active ingredients. These commonly include things like Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, and other similar agents. The skin will be highly sensitive and these products will only irritate it further.
Use collagen-stimulating peptides As microneedling serves to stimulate the production of collagen, the skin needs higher amounts of collagen than normal to recover optimally. Collagen Stimulating Peptides assist in that process, further aiding in the stimulation of collagen production.
Avoid the use of makeup after treatment It is imperative that you let your skin “breathe” and recover for 24 hours after the procedure. The skin channels are open, and using a makeup brush can penetrate the pores, especially if they are very thin, causing further irritation. Using a makeup brush that has been used before can contaminate the skin and, consequently, lead to infections. Wait 24 to 48 hours before you apply face makeup to give your skin the necessary recovery time.
Use a cooling face mask After you have undergone microneedling, you may experience some skin inflammation or redness. If you are uncomfortable, using a cooling mask will help reduce the inflammation or redness of the skin, giving you more comfort.
Use an antioxidant serum Antioxidant serums have properties that assist in healing the skin. Serums assist in soothing the skin and further reduce irritation.
Exfoliate It’s important to exfoliate on day 5 (day 1 is the day of treatment) to remove any dead skin cells which have resulted from treatment. You can repeat exfoliation on day 7 if required. Be sure not to exfoliate more than twice a week as this can damage the superficial layer of your skin and lead to irritation.
Avoid sweating As you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to either a reaction or infection.
Drink water It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.
You can see a noticeable glow in your skin a few days after your first session.
Permanent changes in your skin will be visible after 3–6 prescribed treatments. You could expect significant visible results in the appearance, texture, and smoothness of your skin in as little as a couple of months.
